Five Several Remembrances
While in this body, while of this body :
~ I am of the nature to grow old. There is no way to escape growing old.
~ I am of the nature to have ill health. There is no way to escape ill health.
~ I am of the nature to die. There is no way to escape death.
~ All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature to change. There is no way to escape being separated from them.
~ I am of the nature to breathe. There is no way to escape the drive to take a full breath and to fill myself with the oxygen that gives my cells and organs the sustenance to live.
~ Like the positive and negative poles of a magnet, I am of the nature to form attractions and to create form from chaos. There is no escape from my sensuous nature.
~ I am of the nature to have boundaries. There is no escape from exclusion and killing.
~ I am of the nature to feel pain. There is no escape from pain. May I let the experience of pain guide me toward more healthy actions for my body-mind and for others.
~ I am a continuous flux and flow of increasing and decreasing entropy.
* My actions are my only true belongings. I cannot escape the consequences of my actions. My actions are the ground upon which I stand. That ground is change. That ground is impermanence. That ground is groundless. *
